(Session D) The Future of Work: Integrating Design and Technology for Workplace Innovation
Start Time: 10:50 AM
Length: 90 Minutes
Learning Objectives: Coming Soon
Description: How is work changing today? And how can new architectural solutions respond to create inspiring, productive office environments? Collaboration and efficiency are two longstanding drivers, but new pressures are reshaping design. The challenges of workplace innovation are multiplied by human resources (HR) issues such as change management, as well as the need to deploy and integrate technologies for IT, communications, audiovisual and videoconferencing, among others. The end-user, architect and consultant panelists offer a “technology roadmap” for the future, describing approaches for both accommodating new open-plan office designs and technology needs while also providing flexibility for change and proper acoustics. Representative design schema are reviewed that respond to high-level needs in corporate and institutional office buildings, including collaboration zones, meeting rooms, workstations, typical amenities and back-of-house areas. Attendees will learn about smart systems, workflow solutions, and resource efficiency and new business models, as well as key technical elements such as Wi-Fi, distributed antenna systems, passive optical networks, unified communications, intelligent lighting and sound masking.
