| Illinois Green Ribbon Schools Awards Program - On January 9th, 2012, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) launched the first Illinois Green Ribbon Schools awards program, recognizing schools that are leading the way to promote sustainability and environmental education. Illinois joins 32 other states participating in the pilot federal Green Ribbon Schools award program to commend the most green and healthy schools in the nation. In announcing the program’s extension into Illinois, Governor Quinn credited the collaborative efforts of various agencies including the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Natural Resources, and ISBE. |

| Glencoe Home Awarded LEED Platinum Certification – LEED Platinum residential certification was awarded to Glencoe residents Barry and Natalie Slotnick, the owners of 370 Washington Avenue in Glencoe, for their commitment to creating a “green” home. The certification level of LEED Platinum is the highest level attainable within the program created by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). The residence is only the second new construction home to achieve the elite LEED Platinum certification in the State of Illinois and is the first to do so on the North Shore. |

| Illinois Department of Employment Security releases report of survey results – A survey of more than 20,000 employers found there were a total of 115,208 green jobs in the state, or about 2 percent of total employment.
