Membership
The U.S. Green Building Council – Illinois Chapter connects you with nearly 1,600 members representing various disciplines and industries that are shaping the region’s green building movement. Members receive discounts on Chapter programs, listing in the Chapter’s online membership directory, and access to the Chapter’s online member community. Members are also able to participate in Chapter committees and serve in Chapter leadership positions.
Join
As of July 30, 2010, the Illinois Chapter is managing our own membership. To join the Illinois Chapter and pay your membership dues with a credit card, follow the instructions below. To pay new member dues with a check, please use the Membership Application or contact Joan Martin at 312-245-8300 x205.
- Visit www.usgbc-illinois.org
- Click on Member Application under the Membership drop-down menu
- Click the Start application in a new window button
- Select the proper Membership Level
- If you work for a company that is a USGBC member, you can select National Member Employee
- If you are a student, you can select Student
- If you do not work for a company that is a USGBC member, you should select Regular
- Follow the remaining online prompts

- Reduced fees and priority registration for Chapter events, educational sessions, workshops, and programs
- Listing in Chapter’s online searchable Member Directory – Each individual Chapter member is displayed online in the searchable, publicly accessible USGBC – Illinois Chapter member directory. Members can be searched by a wide variety of criteria.
- Access to Chapter’s online Member-Only forum
- Access to job posting/job seeker section on web site
- Subscription to GreenBytes – the Chapter newsletter
- Ability to serve on Chapter Committees and Branches – As a member-driven organization, the Illinois Chapter relies on its Committees and Branches to plan and implement programs to serve Illinois’ green building community.
- Eligibility to run for a Chapter leadership position within a Chapter Committee or Branch
- Eligibility to serve on Chapter Board – Chapter board members help guide the Chapter’s strategic direction.
- Ability to participate in Chapter elections – Chapter members are invited to vote in elections for the Chapter’s board of directors, Branch leaders, and by-laws change proposals.
- Opportunity to represent the Chapter at speaking engagements and trade show booths

USGBC – Illinois Chapter’s membership is for individuals that are a part of Illinois’ green building community. Our members come from every industry – architects, product manufacturers, contractors, educators, engineers, interior designers, landscape architects, legal professionals, property managers, and more. Chapter membership offers opportunities for local involvement, networking, and educational events. Members are the driving force behind all of the Chapter’s work. By participating in committees and branches, members develop programs and events for various segments of the region’s green building community and assist the Chapter in operational functions that help us achieve our goals – from planning educational programming and networking events, to advocacy efforts in Springfield, to greening existing schools and homes.
