|What is a Sustainable City and How Do We Develop and Educate to Get There?|
A distinguished panel will discuss the initiatives underway in Chicago and how we might collaborate with ASU to understand what truly sustainable places and cities will look like and how we develop and educate together to get there.
The panel includes:
• Christopher Groesbeck, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, Principal at VOA, now Stantec; adjunct professor of urban design and architecture, IIT; and International Steering Committee, Council of Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat
• Bill Abolt, Vice President-Energy – AECOM, previously Environment Commissioner, Director of the Office of Budget and Management and Chief of Management, City of Chicago, responsible for developing city’s “green city” strategy, Adjunct Professor of Public Policy and Administration, Northwestern University.
• Aaron Koch, Chief Resilience Officer, City of Chicago, Mayor’s Office, leading Chicago’s partnership with 100 Resilient Cities – Funded by The Rockefeller Foundation. Previously Deputy Commissioner for Sustainability, Department of Water Management, City of Chicago, Senior Policy Advisor, Office of Planning and Sustainability, New York City.

|Illinois Governor's Sustainability Award Ceremony & Symposium|
This year marks the 30th Anniversary of the Illinois Governor’s Sustainability Award, the nation’s longest running preeminent environmental and sustainability award. The event will celebrate and recognize its latest honorees – winners of the 2016 Illinois Governor’s Sustainability Award, at our Awards luncheon.
