|Institute for Supply Management’s (ISM) 2016 Sustainability Award Application |
ISM – Chicago is committed to promotion of a green economy and community through the education of sustainable business practices that protect our communities and the environment we live in. Through the sharing of innovative best practices in conserving and recycling resources, reducing carbon emissions, enacting climate change programs, and advocating efficient energy use, ISM – Chicago encourages opportunities and ideas to fuel the green transformation.
As part of this mission, ISM – Chicago is pleased to announce the Sustainability Award for 2016. This award will be provided to two companies, a winner and runner-up, affiliated with ISM – Chicago that successfully embraced sustainability initiatives. Examples of sustainability initiatives include reduced energy consumption, use of green materials, reduced landfill waste, reduced raw material usage, increased use of recycled product, allowing for re-use or re-purposing of materials, and improved product or processes as a result of sustainability.
Applications for the award can be found at this link. The application deadline has been extended to February 29, 2016, and the winners will be announced on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 in conjunction with Earth Day. Questions may be directed to 847-298-1940 or e-mail [email protected].

During February, LEED v4 education highlights location and transportation. Location and transportation (new category to BD+C, ID+C and O+M projects) rewards thoughtful decisions about building location, with credits that encourage compact development, alternative transportation and connection to amenities such as restaurants and parks.

|Low Emitting Materials: LEED v4 Beyond Requirements|
“How do I actually achieve this credit?” In the LEED v4 Beyond the Requirements series, this is the question we help you answer. You will leave this course confident that you can select products, effectively communicate with manufacturers and builders, and successfully document the LEED v4 Low-Emitting Materials credit.
Instructor Michelle Halle Stern is the LEEDUser Expert for this credit and was Chair of the USGBC EQ TAG when the credit was developed. She will walk you through understanding the context, history of this credit’s evolution, and most importantly, you will practice completing the credit calculator using a sample project. For additional mastery you can opt for a mentored assignment applying these skills to one of your own projects.
In-Person Experience Only: In-person 2-hour course that includes hands-on practice with the course content. 2 LU/HSW credits. $69 Early Bird; $79 after February 14th.
