The Chapter's skilled and diverse membership is its most valuable asset. Our members participate in a variety of committees that develop programs and events for various segments of the region's green building community and/or assist the Chapter in a variety of operational functions that help us achieve our goals.
Education and Research: Plans and implements a variety of green building educational programs including LEED Extra Credit, Green Building Nuts & Bolts for Contractors, and regional green building case studies.
Residential Green Building: Develops educational content for programs and provides training for advocates & experts specifically for the residential building market and homeowners.
Green Schools: Plans events and advocacy for school districts, schools, and school professionals.
State and Local Government/Advocacy: Offers programs and events specifically for local and regional governments and policymakers. Also tracks local/state green building related legislation/policies and conducts green building related presentations for local governments.
Emerging Professionals: Plans programs especially designed for college students and young design professionals including the annual Natural Talent Design Competition.
Membership: Plans regular membership development programs, offers the monthly LEED AP Study Sessions, manages the Chapter's membership directory, and plans the member volunteer appreciation event.
Fundraising Committee: The Fundraising Committee assists with overall fundraising efforts of the Chapter including sponsorship, grants, and fundraising events.
The USGBC – Illinois Chapter's membership is spread throughout the State. Branches organize programs, build Chapter membership and advocate for sustainable buildings and communities for specific geographic areas within their region.
