Committees
The Chapter’s skilled and diverse membership is its most valuable asset. Our members participate in a variety of committees that develop programs and events for various segments of the region’s green building community and/or assist the Chapter in a variety of operational functions that help us achieve our goals.

EDUCATION |
Education and Research: Plans and implements a variety of green building educational programs including LEED Extra Credit, Green Building Nuts & Bolts for Contractors, and regional green building case studies. | Residential Green Building: Develops educational content for programs and provides training for advocates & experts specifically for the residential building market and homeowners. | |

ADVOCACY |
State and Local Government/Advocacy: Offers programs and events specifically for local and regional governments and policymakers. Also tracks local/state green building related legislation/policies and conducts green building related presentations for localgovernments. | Green Schools: Plans events and advocacy for school districts, schools, and school professionals. | Public Relations: Coordinates public relations opportunities for the Chapter. The committee also assists in the design of Chapter’s print and electronic media and coordinates the Chapter’s regional speakers’ bureau. |

MEMBERSHIP |
Membership: Plans regular membership development programs, offers the monthly LEED AP Study Sessions, manages the Chapter’s membership directory, and plans the member volunteer appreciation event. | Emerging Green Builders: Plans programs especially designed for college students and young design professionals including the annual Natural Talent Design Competition. | |

COLLAB / ORG. CAPACITY |
Programs: Plans Chapter meetings, green building tours for members, and coordinates monthly LEED workshops in conjunction with national USGBC staff. The committee also plans the Chapter’ two major social events each year: a Summer Boat Cruise and a Holiday Party. | Special Events: Plans the Chapter’s two annual fundraising and networking events: the Emerald Gala – the region’s premiere green building black-tie event and the Natural Leaders Luncheon – A formal business luncheon featuring a prominent national speaker in the field of sustainable design and green business. | Branches: Coordinate Chapter events, programs, and advocacy throughout the Chapter’s service region. Branches organize programs for specific geographic areas within their region. Current branches are: Central Illinois, Fox Valley, North/Northwest Suburban, West Suburban, and South Suburban. |

GOVERNANCE |
Finance: Provides financial oversight for the Chapter, coordinates annual budget, makes financial recommendations to the Board of Directors | Fundraising: Assists with overall fundraising efforts of the Chapter including sponsorship, grants, and fundraising events | Governance: Provides elections oversight for the Chapter, coordinates annual elections, makes policy recommendations to the Board of Directors |
The USGBC – Illinois Chapter’s membership is spread throughout the State. Branches organize programs for specific geographic areas within their region. Current branches of the Illinois Chapter are: Central Illinois, Fox Valley, North/Northwest, West Suburban, and South Suburban.
