Why Volunteer?
Volunteering is the perfect way to demonstrate your passion to sustainability. The USGBC – Illinois Chapter is a nonprofit membership driven organization that advances buildings and communities that are sustainable, prosperous and healthy. We succeed with the support of our volunteers.
The Chapter will be hosting a series of “Volunteerism” webinars in February and March to talk about the many volunteer opportunities and answer questions.
Everyone Can Help
Everyone has a talent to offer! The Chapter could not and would not be able to achieve our goals without members that voluntarily give their time, efforts and talents to the broad scope of Chapter undertakings. In 2011, the Chapter had over 190 members volunteering their time in wide variety of ways. We need this level of volunteer engagement if we are to enhance the quality of life for current Illinois citizens and future generations.
We need a little of your time or a lot if you can spare it. Consider giving back to the industry and the organization that you have chosen to be a part of. The Chapter values the members time they give, please share yours so we can continue our growth for the next 10 years.
We invite you to consider participating in one of our 8 committees or 7 branches. Participation varies from assisting with the registration desk to coordinating an entire program. There are many ways to help!
- Assist with program planning
- Participate in advocacy
- Staff booths
– Help find appropriate venues
– Take photographs
– Work on a Chapter video
- Engage in research
– Write for the Chapter blog
– Help with new member outreach
– Be a liaison to another organization
– Volunteer in the Chapter office
– and so much more!
Remember, you can earn 4.0 CE hours per reporting period for Committee and Volunteer Work, 2.0 CE hours for holding a leadership position or 0.5 CE hours per meeting attendance.
